Laurel is a director, writer, producer, and yoga teacher. Her short film All You Want To Know was selected for the 2022 Portland Film Festival, Massachusetts Independent Film Festival, She Makes Movies festival in New York City, and Austin Indie Fest where she won Best Director and the film was nominated for Best Short Film. The script for All You Want To Know was a finalist for the 2020 Atlanta Film Festival and the 2020 Blue Cat Screenplay Competition.
Laurel has produced content for Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, BET, Vice Media’s television channel ViceTV, and the not-for-profit Starts With Us. She is an Executive Producer and co-founder of Let That Marinate Productions and a part of the comedy sketch duo Shabs & Laurel Forever. Her comedy work has been featured on Funny or Die and Whohaha. She created, directed, and acted in the web series’ Letters to Quarantine and Impodsters, and has produced many short films including Mr. Oberbeck, which premiered at the 2022 Lower East Side Film Festival and The Woods, which premiered at the 2018 Brooklyn Horror Festival.
Laurel graduated with a B.A. in Film and Television Production from the University of Southern California (Fight on!). She is a member of the WGA.
Laurel is also a certified yoga teacher and sound healer having completed her 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training in the Himalayas at the Nepal Yoga Academy. She found that through yoga and physical movement she was able to connect more deeply with her creative mind. Now she loves to create spaces through her yoga classes and workshops where others can feel safe to tap in more deeply to their emotional and creative selves.
